How you opt in: Returning students who match an existing record choose Yes, send me a code, then on the verification channel step check the SMS consent box (unchecked by default) and choose Text. That checkbox is the Call-to-Action.

This is the wording students see before a verification text is sent. The box is never pre-checked.
What you receive: One-time verification codes only. Message frequency varies; typically one code per check-in attempt. No marketing texts.
